Cheetahs

Portraits of orphaned cheetahs at the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia. These cheetahs were orphaned at a young age, and unable to be released into the wild. In this portfolio my goal was to photograph and share the grace, beauty and vulnerability of these amazing animals.

  • This portfolio contains my Cheetahs in Black and White series of photographs. Most of the cheetahs in the photographs are orphans raised by the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia. www.cheetah.org These orphans were unable to be released into the wild because their mothers died before they could teach them to hunt. Their mothers were killed mostly by farmers or ranchers - who feared that they might kill livestock. Although cheetahs rarely kill livestock, this is still a fear held by many, and orphaned cheetahs such as these are the result.<br /> <br /> Cheetahs are an endangered species and are struggling to survive as they slowly lose habitat and come into conflict with humans. I hope that as you view this portfolio you will see the cheetah's beauty through these photographs; understand how vulnerable they are; and know the tragedy it would be if this amazing creature was lost through extinction.
